Does Euthanasia differ from bomb suicide,? just think about it!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_bomber

when I thought about a topic for my last presentation in pronunciation class the first idea that jumped into my mind was of euthanasia. It like an electricity shock. Either deliberately or unintentionally, the issue becomes one of my concerns. According to the Greek definition of Euthanasia, it means “ good death”. Originally, the term refers to painless and peaceful death as used to happen in comfortable surroundings. Nowadays, for some reasons that I don’t know the word become used to refer to the situation when someone ends up the life of another in order to cope with his pain and sufferings. Both usages for the term throughout the history sound contradictory for me. The contradiction does not surprise me because they were the Greeks, their contemporaries, and the ancient people in general who built up the bases for ethics and morals. It is only with the modern man that ethics have become chaotic issue.

In the case of euthanasia, Dr. Jack Kivorkian paved the way to such a trouble. Some people call him Dr,Death, yet, doesn’t look like the appropriate name for someone who dare to kill people. He and his suporte4 might argue that their message is purely humane. First, it provides a relief of the chronic and extreme pain of the patient”Proponents also argue that legalizing euthanasia/assisted suicide is a necessary "insurance policy" that will ensure that no one dies in painful agony or unremitting suffering”. Second, it provides a relief from medial funding that will not bring any positive result. Lastly, it is another form of freedom of choice.

Nevethelless, have you ever thought about any similarity between euthanasia and bomb suicide? I believe that they share a same goal as both of them are meant to end the life of someone else. In deed, a suicide is always a suicide whether within the assistance of somebody, individually, or collaboratively. The similarities extend to reach the physical and the mental status of the people who accept to be killed. In the case of euthanasia, most of the patients are desperate, unable to think appropriately, and hate life. Similary, according to a study pub;ished on wekepedia, most of suicide attackers suffer from spycholologicalor mental problems and are desperate as well”One initial reaction to contemporary suicid One initial reaction to contemporary suicide bombing was to assume that the bombers were motivated by despair, and likely to come from a poor, neglected segment of society.the study adds that around “ 80% of the suicide attackers had some kind of physical or mental disability”.

Thus, is there anybody ion the earth who can tell what will happen eactly tomorrow. Even for weather forecast, despite all the techinological devices they invented for the purposes, sometime it is still hard to tell. To put it another way, who can assume that tomorrow will not be a different day in the life of the patrient? Who can assume that tomorrow ther will not be a change in the life of the suicide aatcker? Who can assume that tomorrow is not going to be brighter for everybody on earth? To conclude, as long as there is hope life is always better than death.

Ibn Khaldoun

Have you ever heard about a multi-specialties scientist? Have you ever heard about a writer whose book’s introduction is divided into two tomes? He is the most admirable public figure for me. Ibn Khaldoun is a 14th century Tunisian scholar. He was known for his wide knowledge in science and humanities, civilizations, theology, anthropology, economics, and politics. Three good reasons make the person very special for me: the depth of his ideas, the influence of his studies on modern researches, and his strong personal belief in his principles.

Although few are the pages I read from Ibn khaldoun’s books, I am always impressed by the depth of his ideas in different fields of interest. Ibn Khaldoun is known by being very direct and clear. In addition to the well organized and structured discourse, Ibn Khaldoun has very detailed findings, strongly illustrated with examples and case studies from everyday life. For most of the issues he analyzed, the researcher wrote long passages where he broke down the different perspectives that an issue can be viewed from. For example, when Ibn Khaldoun treated the man’s need to earn a livelihood, he talked about taxation, hunting, commerce, agriculture, crafts as conditions and means of earning sustenance.

A further reason why I admire Ibn Khaldoun is related to the permanent validity of his ideas. Ibn khaldhoun’s findings about motivations, dynamics of work, and leadership have a striking resemblance to our modern lives. Every one nowadays wants to progress and succeed in the marketplace. Furthermore, the author’s genius work “introduction” is full of pearls of wisdom about the nature of humans and sciences. His ideas about the science of culture and chauvinism inspired all generations to come. Many of the historical and sociological modern studies such as that of “unionism” are influenced by his researches.

Last, Ibn khaldoun’s strong attachment to his ideas and principles is also among the reasons why I pay him too much tribute and esteem. Despite the harsh conservative atmosphere of the era where he appeared, Ibn khaldoun could face it courageously. Historians recorded that he escaped many countries such as Morocco and Spain because of his moderate religious and political opinions. Yet, he had never modified his points of view. Ibn khaldoun believed in the importance of work, therefore, he was very determined and tenacious at work. Similarly, because he endorsed the principle of relativism, he was always cautious and very open to listen from others.

In summary, Ibn Khaldoun is always a vibrant and original thinker for me. The depth of his ideas, the influence that his researches have on modern lives and his strong belief in his principles, make him my favorite public figure. Ibn kahldoun’s writings really represent significant references for further researches in all areas of interests.

Sharing Parenting

Who is going to cook? Who is going to wipe the dust? Who is going to stay at home with the sick child? Who is going to come back early to let the baby sitter go? Who is going to prepare the children for school? A general observation of different kinds of societies shows that those activities are one partner’s work. She is the mom who should be responsible for all this.

It is not because man is not able to do them. It is not because parenting is naturally designed this way . On the contrary, the analysis of such an issue is definitely related to social and cultural background. It is for the safe of man’s masculinity, dignity, and superiority that the male partner has not to do anything related to housework. Whether the woman works outside or she is a housewife, some societies are strictly merciless with man who tries to help his wife at home. He is very likely to become an object of mockery, criticism, and sometimes rejection. Are some conservative areas people do not even sit with such a kind of men. Not only manhood societies who adopt such an opinion, even women in so many cultures belittle the man who tries to help his mother or wife at home. Unreliable, weak, his wife’s servant, foolish, poor, and so on and so forth of the degrading descriptions they make for him. Hence, sharing parenting or alternative parenting like what some prefer to call is more limited by social and cultural customs than by natural rules.
Although such a topic might seem a big problem, yet, it is still worth discussing for the sake of a successful matrimonial life. I am not going to focus on relationships in the past since most women did not work. However, within the contemporaneous changes of women status, one may wonder why men are still unwilling to participate in different types of housework. At this level of analysis, I would take off the norms from the list of the reasons because even norms change. I don’t see man’s selfishness among the reasons either. In an article published on Feminist.com by Julie Shield on family and parenting, negotiation is stated as the best means to cope with men’s prejudice on sharing parenting.

Thus, the lack of negotiation between couples will be among the basic reasons I would agree on for such an issue. I don’t know what couples are talking about when they start dating each other. Eventhough nothing would be wrong with keeping all the time cooing at each other, worshipping, or courting one another as it is the nature of love, mature couples would also find sometime to discuss their futuristic responsibilities. Hence, instead of fighting about which of the restaurants they want to go at the weekend or about how much money they have to spend to have a prestigious wedding ceremony, couples would rather sit to negotiate the different ways that may help them make their married life happier. Children’s care and alternative parenting for example, is among the crucial issue that should be discussed before marriage. Indeed, a true successful matrimonial life can even have the woman pumping a bottle of breast milk from her nipples and giving it to the father to feed it to the baby later as he going to work and he is on a day off or an afternoon partime job.

A second reason why man is still unwilling to help with children’s care or housework cleaning refers to the woman’s attitude or what Chester L. Karras (one of Julie Shield’s persons in her article) calls “aspiration level”. Woman, who asks for more since the beginning of the relationship, gets more. Woman who asks for less gets less. I think that men who are in love are usually open to understand and to love their partners’ perceptions of life.

In summary, although sharing parenting seems to be a challenge for men to accept, negotiations between couples in association with the extent of woman’s conviction with her husbands’ help at home may make it easier for both couples.

See Her Cigssssssssss!!!

It is apparent that women have the same nicotine dependency like men. It is also clear that the number of female smokers is augmenting quickly between years. What makes it worse is that smoking becomes more popular among young women than elder ones. According to an article published by the American Cancer Society, about 21% of women ages 18 to 44 smoke, but only about 9% of women 65 and over do. As these younger women age and continue to smoke, they will have more smoking-related illness and disability. Reasons that push women towards cigarettes vary between psychological troubles, such as feelings of guilty, disappointment, rejection, and social deterrence like low-paid or unpaid jobs, divorce, or the simple tendency towards a sense of group belonging. When smokers meet at the schoolyard they believe that they have much fun and joyful atmosphere than non-smokers.

It is assumed that tobacco epidemic risks are familiar to all smokers including young or old women. And if there is one explanation why they don’t quite, it may be due to the lack of a strong will. Therefore, I think that sometimes it is worthless to invest time and money publishing ads and making programs to encourage people who are completely conscious of the effects of the cigarettes. In fact, some women in some places may smoke just for the purpose of the prestige. Isn’t that ridiculous?! Hence, why instructing people who are knowledgeable enough about the issue? Why advising women who smoke only, because they are either naïve or stubborn?

However, there is still some kind of person who is neither aware of the smoking risks nor able to ban them even if he/she were aware. It is still possible to say that smoking is imposed on him/her. Obviously, he/she is the little growing baby of the smoking pregnant mother. Research suggests that infants of mothers who smoke during and after pregnancy are 2 to 3 times more likely to die from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) than babies born to non-smoking mothers. Hence, voices of blame should be much more rigid with the category of pregnant women or with those who aim at getting married and having children than with anybody else. Smoking women in this case, are not putting only themselves at risk, but also the life of innocent creatures. It would be even so judicious if children rights organization put obstructions and laws on pregnant smokers.

Profanity in the Street: Tunisia an Instance

http://accurapid.com/journal/16review.htm
http://www.familystyle.com/advscripts/definitions.asp

As it is known, violence is not invariably a physical behavior. It can also be a verbal one, which is sometimes more harmful. Cursing, screaming agressively, and using dirty language are the most common shapes of verbal violence. “Profane language” is another synonym for verbal violence. According to an article of definitions of terms related to family styles published on the Internet, language of profanity refers to the language or gestures that demonstrate irreverence, contempt, or disrespect towards groups of people or religious beliefs. Language or gestures considered coarse, vulgar, obscene or otherwise offensive. It is usually manifested in taking God’s name in vain or using sexually derived words. Some people try to find excuses to such a sort of violence by being in status of anger, loss of control, and even freedom of expression. The worst, however, about this dirty language is that it could be used with relatives, with children, and in public and non- public places. In some cultures, it used to be the monopoly of masculine gender. They were only men who could be forgiven for cursing or screaming with abusive words. Currently, in these same cultures, even women dare to use it the same way men do.

At this level of analysis, I would like to take Tunisia as an example where profane language is frequently heard, especially in the streets. Yes, unfortunately, it is the reality that I cannot deny about my country. Despite all kinds of fine developments that Tunisia is accomplishing, some social behaviors still need to be polished. I can assume that there is no single day in my life where I passed through Avenue Rome, for instance, without hearing at least one dirty word. Once, I was really offended when one of my foreign teachers at the university of April 9th, said that the first word he learnt in Tunisian dialect is a sexual vulgar word (the N-word) for it was the word people say most since he came. Is not that a shame?!

As far as I am concerned, I cannot see but law to clear up our tongue. I think societies allover the world should draw more attention to this disrespectful behavior, basically in public places. I would advocate coercive laws in cases where immoral language is used for I am certain that there are other ways rather than abusive genre through which, expressing anger or cursing can be manifested .” Cursing is not necessarily abusive or aggressive. It can be humorous, playful, and creative.” Claims Zsuzannea Ardo in an article published on April 2001 under the title of Emotion, Taboo, and Language Profanity.

Funny Philosophy of Food: Vegetarianism

http://www.acu-cell.com/veg.html
http://thoughts2005.blogspot.com/2005/04/vegetarianism-pros-and-cons.html

The day was May 28th at ESL Instruction and Consulting. I was taking the phrasal verb class. It happened that the first example we started with is the verb “Abstain from”. It also happened that I was the first to use a sentence with that verb: “ I abstained from eating meat because I want to become vegetarian”. Actually, it was not true because I have never thought to be a vegan. But I don’t know why as soon as I finished the class, I ran to write about this new phenomenon. It is amazing how many articles and studies did I found about vegetarianism tremendous number of opinions ranging between pro’s and con’s opinions range between pro’s and Con’s. People who endorse vegetarianism view it is an authentic healthy way to help live longer life, avoid bone loss. And control blood sugar for diabetes. On the other hand, those who are against argue that vegetarianism may cause a deficiency in vitamin B12, which does not exist but in animals. Some other vegetarians also justify their meatless tendencies by religious or environmental advocation.

I think that vegetarianism is a sort of exaggeration or ostentatious model of diet. There must be also a false understanding to what being healthy, environmentalist, or religious mean exactly. Indeed, talking about natural equilibrium including health, environment or religion necessitates to try from each kind of food either meat, vegetable, or fruit a bit. Consequently, I don’t see a strong conclusive reason to be a vegetarian. Similarly, it would be also unwise to eat meat or any other kind of fat daily. I can see one simple response for all the pro-earth, pro-religion, or medical arguments for vegetarianism. All what is required indeed, is to avoid junk food such as humbuggers, pizza, or French fries and to try to diversify the daily menu, to avoid eating when one is not hungry, and not to be a gourmand when sitting on the table.

One Standard Language is Sufficient

http://www.imperialethiopia.org/languages.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_Ethiopia

Although little was said about it, the issue, which language should be official and which one should not is as critical as any other issue related to the notions of identity, supremacy, and prestige. Few years ago, there was an appeal int the United States of America to introduce an African-American vernacular called Ebonics as an official language that should be taught at school. Amharic was the language of primary school instruction in Etyopia, but has been replaced in many areas by local languages such as Oromifa and Tigrinya as a consequence of so many demands and rebellions. Smilarly, in Algeria there is a continuous debate about using Berber as a national and official language.
Regarding these three examples, it may seem an absolute legitimacy to look for nationalizing one language for the protection of one’s cultural richness and identity. However, it would be more favorable to have one standard language for the sake of the union of the nation. It is commonplace that any kind of diversity including languages is invariably a sign of separateness and misunderstanding. It might be discriminatory to forbid people from speaking their vernacular language in every day life like what happened once in Algeria as Berber speakers were punished if they were heard using this language. Nevertheless, it would be irrational to call for nationalizing or “officializing” a small minority spoken language when the official most used language can be very expressive and sufficient for all administrative or academic need. Because Arabic, American English, or Amharic are spoken by the majority as well as they are more practical languages in everyday life, it would be logical to take them as official languages without imposing any sort of harassment or disrespect on the rest of languages spoken in one country.
It is important to add that language supremacy is not related to the political power of its nation or speakers but to the amount of its use. China, for instance is a quite powerful political country. However, hardly could we speak about Chinese language supremacy in comparison to Spanish, English, or Arabic. The linguist Max Weinreich once said that a language is a dialect with an army and a navy. I would refer to the army by the number of speakers of a language and the navy by its practicality and prestige. Accordingly, the fight for Ebonics, for example, to become an official language world be unjustifiable since American English is more used by people inside and outside the nation and more practical in everyday business.

Same Sex Marriage: Not a Controversy

http://law-library.rutgers.edu/SSM.html

http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/front/la-me-church20- 2008may20,0,1047569.story?vote38891433=1

It was not a shocking or typical event when few days ago (May 15th, 2008), the California Supreme Court overturned the ban of gays’ marriage. The 4-3 ruling declared that the state Constitution protects a fundamental “right to marry” that extends equally to same-sex couples. Indeed, the issue has its history since it started for more than 15 years ago when the Hawaii Supreme Court decided the restriction of marriage to opposite-sex couples would be unconstitutional unless the state could prove that it offenses one of the states’ interests. Few years later, 2001, the Netherlands became the first country to open civil marriage to same-sex couples, then Belgium, Canada, and Spain followed the legislature to include 27 states of the United Sates of America. Hence, the issue became controversy and each time a new country or a state endorses the amazing law, it adds fuel to the debate. But, does the issue deserve to be a controversy?

Is that true that there is no logic to cope with this issue once for all? Let’s see this: “Gay people deserve the same right to marry that everybody else does. And God cares about our relationships the same way God cares about heterosexual relationships. We're making the same commitments to each other. We have the same responsibilities to each other, and we deserve the same rights and responsibilities under the law that everyone else has." Harry Knox of the Human Rights Campaign. Here it is another argument on the side of same –sex marriage: "Because marriage is a basic human right and an individual personal choice, RESOLVED, the State should not interfere with same-gender couples who choose to marry and share fully an equally in the rights, responsibilities, and commitment of civil marriage." The Marriage Resolution, by the Marriage Project of Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund. On the other hand, opponents object as marriage is an institution between one man and one woman, same –sex couples aren’t’ the optimum environment in which to raise children, gay relationships are immoral and marriages are for procreation ad ensuring the continuation of the species.

It is sometimes challenging to understand why an already resolved issue like this is a controversy. Same-sex marriage seems proposing a redefinition not only for marriage but for life in a whole. Life has been always generated from the existence of dualities: Man Vs woman, virtue Vs vice, love Vs hatred, coldness Vs heat, black Vs white and so on and so forth. Hence, what’s this definition since the answer is simple, clear, neat, and unique for such an issue: As long as there is no life there should be no law advocating the destruction of life. If we review the three principles of the American constitution: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it is important to notice that individuals’ freedom is classified after the life. To say it differently, even tolerance should be intolerant when the bet is on human life.

Saggy Baggy!!!

http://www.lilith-ezine.com/articles/fashion/Jeans-Pants-and-Trousers.html
http://headmasterz.wordpress.com/2007/08/31/saggy-jeans-are-a-menace-to-society/
http://blogs.bet.com/news/newsyoushouldknow/?p=1332

It was my first day at Georgia State University, in the plaza place. It was empty except of some staff. I was sitting in front of the general classrooms watching the buildings of the university and picking acquantance to the place. Suddenly, I turned my face with a shocking scream. The guy was in hurry and his pants almost down his knees!!! Then, on the first day of the session, at the cafeteria of the university, I even saw girls in low-off jeans. Oh my Gush!! Why people are not ashamed of showing their underwears? It is the phenomenon of saggy or baggy jeans! While some people view it like a freedom of expression, others see it like a fashion, and for the African-American community, it becomes a cultural characteristic. Therefore, when a law was passed, in Atlanta, banning the exposure of undergarments basically in public places, many people took it for “a racial profiling” said Benetta Sandly of the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia.
It sounds extremely strange to associate saggy jeans banning with racism or freedom of expression. Indeed, not only black but also a lot of white teens wear their pants this way. Moreover, it is not a real daring libertine behavior to show up in the job office, at school, or in some public places with your underwears exposed to everybody?! Additionally, what culture one may talk about if is commonly known that the origins of baggy pants refer back to the U.S.A jail system, when prisoners were obliged to take off their belts?!

In light of this analysis I would join my voice to Atlanata’s counciller when he compared the phenomenon to an “epidemic” that should be banned from the learning institutions and job places. I would not agree with some people who suggest to treat saggy or baggy jeans like a crime and to panelize those who endorse it with jail. However, it is important to pass some rules and disciplines in job places and schools to forbid this way of dressing. I also think that there would be no exaggeration to consider low-legged jeans a kind of violation of the dignity and the respect of the schools and the job administrations. Though every one is free to dress the way he wants, he should bear in mind that not all the society where he or she lives agree to see his backside. To say it differently, everyone should be aware that his freedom stops when the freedom of the other starts. I would not consider the people who bolster the fashion of exposing underwears law -biding, yet, saggy jeans should not be allowed everywhere. To wrap up, baggy jeans are sometimes good sometimes bad but there must be sufficient awareness of that.

Ready for Natural Surprises??

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24607348/
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24609645

Nature is full of surprises. Earthquakes, cyclones, tsunamis, droughts, tornadoes, volcanic explosions, and a variety of other disasters may take place at any moment without a previous warning. During the first two weeks of May, 2008 nature seemed like in a rage in so many parts of Asian and American countries. History again, is going to record the catastrophic earthquake of China May 12th, as thousands and thousands of people are killed, lost, and injured. Myanmar’s cyclone, on May 2nd, is another example of natural calamity. The United Nations estimates the actual death toll from the storm could be between 62,000 and 100,000. Certainly, humanity will never forget the Tsunami of Indonesia, the 240, 000 people who were killed, and the massive damages, which seems to be everlasting in that part of the world.

"We fear a second catastrophe (in Myanmar) unless we're able to put in place quickly a maximum of aid and a major logistical effort comparable with the response to the (2004) tsunami," said Elisabeth Byres of the U.N. Office for Humanitarian Affairs. In light of this saying, we may wonder how far can governments face these calamities.
It is hard to circumspect the natural disasters, that is true. Yet, it is not always hard to be prepared for them. It would be wrong to rely on the international aids only. Indeed, hindrances because of the weather or because of some political barriers may sometimes delay the arrival of food, medicines , and rescues on time. Therefore, governments should plan to save a part of their national budgets for such surprises. It is important to remember the wisdom that the famous fairy tale of the ant and the grasshopper taught us when we think about such circumstances. At this level of analysis, we might appreciate the Chinese government's efforts, perseverance, and bravery in dealing with the earthquake of may 12th. Despite the massive destruction and the loss caused by the catastrophe, Chinese government continues to reassure the world that they are ready with the response as well as they are usually willing to host the Olympic games in August. In sum, the power of nature is really strong. Yet, it is possible to appease it if governments knew how to be prepared for it from before.

poverty around the world is not the responsibility of the world, it is yours!

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/private-sector-not-the-answer-to-poverty-414223.h
http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Poverty.asp?p=1

According to an online article published by Anup Shah (last updated on march 04th, 2008) on the causes of poverty, the number of people who entered the 21st century unable to read a book goes up to nearly a billion. On the other side, less than 1% of what the world spend every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year. Only when we read or we know about these numbers that we could realize how shocking and paradoxical the situation is. Actually, this is the way in which money is disturbed and poverty is spread. Yet, what makes it that way? Why 4,000 children are killed everyday by diarrhea, or a disease caught from dirty water? Why 1,400 women die needlessly in pregnancy or childbirth? Why 115 million school-age, most of them girls do not go to school?( Philip Thornton, 2206). It is really a scandal, which causes are known but camouflaged. Indeed, if it is not because of the corruption of some politics, if it is not because of undemocratic economy, if it is not because of human rights violation, the 2,500 school children would not have trooped in October 16, 2007 in the Ecole du Centre, a primary school in Yaounde in Cameroon, one of the most affected sub Saharan countries suffering from poverty, calling the government to tackle inequalities , to be much more fair and just, and to fight corruption so that they can cope with the problem of poverty.
Therefore, it would be useless to blame rich countries for not delivering as much aids, as it is required while the causes of destitution are more local than international. According to an article published by the New York Times on May 14th, 2008, the International Monetary Fund, the World bank and other creditors declared that they provided Cameroon with 2,4 billion in debt relief for the progress it has made in improving the economy. Yet, still huge amounts of money and aids are needed. Of course, either for cameroon or any other developed nation, this financial help whould never be enough as long as being satisfied is totally relative to how fairly these loans are going to be distributed and used. I would agree strongly with the people who relate the caused of poverty around the world to the local and social corruption, bribes, injustice of some countries rather than to the lack of aids, the spread of privatization, or the endorsement of weapons production. Indeed, many of the developed countries themselves, give much focus to weapons production rather than to the real and urgent needs of their citizens.

Safety Vs Privacy on the Roads?!

http://searo.who.int/EN/Section1243/Section1310/Section1343/Section1344/Section1836/Section1837_8158.htm
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/1260165.stm

According to a study published by the World Health Organization, the annual cost of road crashes is about 1% of the Gross National Product (GNP) in developing countries, 1.5% in transitional countries, and 2% in highly motorized countries. They might seem low percentages. Yet, who wants to be killed in a road accident? Who wants to hear about one of his relatives killed in a car crash? Therefore, they are still high numbers. Drugs, alcohol, speed are the most common causes of road accidents. Yet, when we hear that most of these accidents occur on small or damaged roads or by uninsured vehicles. It becomes clear that governments also share a huge part of the responsibility, if not all of it. Governments should pay regular attention to the maintenance of roads. Not only establishing a good network of roads should be guaranteed but also drivers and vehicles should be properly licensed. According to the World Health Organization studies most road traffic accidents’ victims are teenagers or early adults from 20 to 47 years old. To put it differently, they are people from the most active and productive age, which represent a serious economic loss to the community.

Governments may argue that they have done their utmost for the issue. It is usually due to reckless individuals that the problem continues to occur. Spotlight traffic cameras are the most of what the governments could do to protect people on the streets. Nevertheless, despite the ingenuity of this idea, still, it has a lot of drawbacks. Indeed, no one wants to be on camera at a stop light. It is a sort of violation of people’s privacy. Moreover, what will the highway patrol do if these cameras do their jobs. Some people argue that this new road technology is another source of profits for government. However, nothing is it added to the discipline of the roads. Therefore, in order to cope with the road accident problem, I think that if both parts the government and the people committed themselves strictly to the initial rules of the roads, cameras, which may raise many people’s anger and car crashes, which may take people’s life would have no existence.

Road Accidents in the Era of Technology

Every year, in many places of the world thousands of people lose their lives in a road accident. The error most of the time is believed to be human, either that of the driver or the pedestrian. However, if the accident occurs because of a hole in the street, should we involve the government in our blame too? One may argue that governments have done their utmost to protect people in the street. They even fix highly developed traffic cameras in the roads to prevent all types of mistakes. The question, however, to what extend does this technology contribute? Has it really decreased the percentage of road accidents and road rules violations? Don’t you think that it is reminiscent of communist behavior to control people’s privacy? The links above may give you some hints to help you develop your points of view.

Pull Out The Roots, Addiction is solved!!!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/06/us/06abuse.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

According to a survey provided by a mental healthcare center on BBC News the 28 of April, 2008, self-harming is increasing among teenagers and adolescents either with means of punching themselves, burning, or self-poisoning. Alcohol, drugs, marijuana, cocaine and so many other types of plants are also other examples of addiction among both youth and adults. As for the reasons, national statistics show that violence, theft, child abuse, prostitution, divorce, job performance and accidents are most susceptible to drugs and addiction in its various aspects. The big question however, is how to fight the war on this “addiction”? Accordingly, are rehab centers enough? Are solving addiction programs as scattered everywhere in the world efficient? And if I should give up the drug that was once prescribed by the doctor, for fear I should be addicted to it, how about my intense perpetual pain? In sum is there really any effective means to win the war?

I think that whether a teen, an adult or an old, the main reasons for drug addiction are not drugs but how these drugs are provided or founded. Similarly, the main reasons behind addiction to self-harming are not due to social troubles, for these may happen to anyone, but to the one who shows these ways of destroying the body? The problem could not end unless its roots are eradicated. It might be a crazy for some people if one suggests stopping alcohol production or marijuana implantation. It might be offensive for some doctors to suggest using Chinese methods or psychological therapy instead of prescribing drugs that are apt to lead to addiction. And, it might be weird to suggest forcing a strong family control on teenagers or adults who are in a stressful period. Yet, as far as I am concerned these are the initial ways to prevent depressive people from falling into addiction abyss. Otherwise, some medical treatment might be efficient as well as some educational programs but, they could never solve the addiction problem as long as possibilities to be addicted are available.

Polygamism or Hooliganism?!

jeffs Rulon: 19 wives 60 children
In an attempt to find the most common characteristics between the three main religions:Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, Polygamy comes on top of the list. The history of the most favored men by God such as Solomon, Abraham, and Mohammed proves that all these people have married more than twice. Hence, what president of Cameroon, for instance, did when he legalized the right of man to have as many wives as he desires should not be considered wrong. Similarly, when Rulon Jeffs built a whole camp of polygamy in North America as he married about 19 women in name of God’s order should not be punished for that.
How ridiculous!!! How offensive to justify big mistakes within the means of religion, culture, or law. First, these people who use religion to legalize or even impose polygamy would better make sure if it is really God’s desire. Simply, when father Adam was created there was one Eden with him not many. Further, even if this practice was really allowed by God, it was usually restrained by certain circumstances. In Islam for example, a man can marry four wives. Yet, it is only when he is able to treat them equally. Do you think that there is one human being on this earth who is totally fair person? Personally I doubt, except of God. As for those who justify polygamy in the name of traditions such as in many countries of middle and Southern Africa, it is important for them to know that even traditions change and are open to new values. Women additionally are vital parts of life. So, imagine one day, the entire women of the world rebel against marriage even to one man, can you support that, you man who advocates polygamy? Again, I doubt. So, damn to these tradition where women are subjugated to this sort of hooliganism! Yes that is how we should describe polygamy: A type of moral, social and cultural violence against the rights and the dignity of woman.
The truth is that polygamy is neither legal nor legitimate because God is just and the traditions are always wise. In short, polygamy is just a system generated of the man’s selfishness, sexual companionship, and “ animalism”. Stop this crazy erroneous practice please!!!

Please Save the Kids of the World!!!!

http://www.un.org/rights/dpi1765e.htm

http://streetkidnews.blogsome.com/category/1/asia-streetkid-news/vietnam-streetkid-news/

It is ridiculous to hear about millions of organizations, volunteering groups, and government associations, all talking about Human rights; among which children rights, while in Vietnam, for instance, over 23,000 children are in the streets. They are objects to homelessness, sexual abuse, and drudge labor. The question how could this happen when we talk about children rights?! “ At the age of 14, Tham does not have a chance to go to school. She has to work to seek three meals a day. Her day begins at 5 in the morning and goes till 9 or 10 in the evening” reported an article under the title of Vietnamese StreetKids News on March 18, 2008. Actually, Tham's story is just a microscopic image of what is really happening not only in Hanoi but also in many other places of the world such as the U.S.A, Sudan, Colombia, and many other Asian countries.
It is shameful to see or hear about kids suffering. However, the shame becomes bigger when a powerful responsible body from the Center for Human Rights claims, “ It’s really a catalyst for action at national level. It provides universal standards—but there are ways it can be interpreted that can be suited to various cultural situations” (Published by the United Nations department of Public Information, December 1995). If I were smart I would understand that the United Nation Body is referring in the claim to some conservative aspects of some cultures where children are not enough aware about the sensitive parts of their body since it is a complete taboo issue to discuss in the family. He might also refer to some customs where children are always taught to obey the adults and never object when they are asked to do something. Nevertheless, these should not be enough reasons to blame the culture instead of the governments or the law legislators around the world. I would see this opinion an escape like for cowards. It is obvious that a solution exists for these tragic situations of our kids. For example, one may wonder about a law to punish those who dare employ a child before thinking about how to save this child. In short neither culture nor poverty is responsible. To protect a child depends totally on how much are we really willing to protect him.

Be Respectful Looking, and That’s About It.

http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=d30c80c6c361c41f64d8218e5b334646
http://media.www.msureporter.com/media/storage/paper937/news/2003/10/30/News/Clarifying.Culture-2019024.shtml

In an article published on new America media on July 27th, 2007, under the title of Hijab Abuse in Tunisia, there too much critics of Tunisian policy as being an anti-religious country for banning the hijab. “ Police have ordered women to remove the head scarves before being allowed into schools, universities, or work places and others have been made to remove them in the street.” I would suggest to these people if they had the opportunity one day to visit Tunisia to make sure that there is no woman wearing headscarf. I would also suggest on them to make sure if women who are not putting on this type of clothing are unhappy with the way they dress. In another article published on the College Publisher Network, some women claim that hijab help them spend less time preparing themselves and save much more time concentrating on their jobs. It is ridiculous to think that Hijab helps women to think less about their beauty as they no longer need to spend time in front of their mirrors looking for the best looking before going out. I would say that with or without hijab, what mostly matter is to look respectfully as a woman in general.

What is undeniable, Hijab is required in Islam religion. What is deniable, Hijeb is not a criterion to measure a woman’s degree of religion. Tunisia has been always a liberal country. Yet, the reason why Tunisian women do not wear Hijab should never be linked to such a political tendency. It is rather due to the changes that Tunisian society is witnessing. It is basically due to the positive changes of the Tunisian woman status. To be a respectful Muslim woman, indeed, should not be bound to wearing Hijab. Otherwise we would consider all those who do not dress this way, in Tunisia or other Muslim countries as Egypt, Syria, or Lebanon bad women, which is not true.

If we were still living in the ancient era where women rarely showed up in the streets, the shopping markets or for jobs, it would be strongly reasonable to oppress women to wear Hijab when she appeared outside her house. Otherwise, men would look at her as an unusual creature, which might be even an a subject of some types of abuses However, being in an era and in a society where most of the deeds such as finding a job to help the husband with the expenses of the family, going to the market for the shopping, or taking children to school are done by women, it becomes unnecessary to oblige her to wear in a certain way and not in another. Islam has been always flexible to modernity. So, why women dressing is not addressed from modern perspectives too?! In short, Be respectfully looking, and that’s about it.

Hijeb: How, When, Why

"Hijab" or woman's muslim scarf as it is called by some people, is a critical issue in muslim arab world. Tunisia women have been always blamed of not following the religious traditions of wearing such a type of clothing. In the link below you will notice the extent to which Tunisia is rebuked because of such an issue while the relaity is completely the opposite. In Tunisia hijab is not an opression but is never abused. Wearing hijab or not in Tunisia is completely bound by the social circumstances of the people there and to a contamporary fexible and soft interpretation to the conditin mentioned in our religion which was, is, and will be always islam.

Here it is another link where you can realize that hijab is not an opression but also is not somthing that we should refuse. In this article, although few is mentioned about the woman's opinion of hijab in Islam wolrld, still the way woman dresses in Islam is not as important as her role in the family, at work, and in the society as a whole,. It's rather, to consider hijab as a personal issue; each woman should have the choice to wear it or not according to her personal convictions.

Global warming: Still an Abstract " Crisis"

Day in and day out, new lakes of water are emerging, mountains glaciers and the tow icy polars are melting, strong unusual storms like Hurricane Katrina are menacing the earth, and varieties of species are at risk of extinction. The earth is evidently in an emergency case. However, everybody is calling to be green.” Being green is all the rage with technology companies these days” (New York Times, July 4, 2007). When one asks about the cause of all these catastrophes, the most difficult answer to give is “us” human beings.

When money talks, human’s understanding of dangers such as global warming becomes dependent on how much his or her wage is rising up. Scientific research have demonstrated in more than once that human’s over consumption of gas and heat, the release of carbon dioxide, burning forests and other forms of environment pollution have a central roles in raising the temperature of the earth’s surface. However, because of their selfishness, some people are still arguing: Since dinosaurs disappeared naturally, why don’t we consider what’s happening to the earth as a kind of natural change too?! Global warming, therefore, seems to be always an abstract phenomenon. Unnfortunately, a lot are still unaware of its danger. Otherwise nobody would have thought in this selfish and dull way.

Although it is believed that dinosaurs’ extinction was caused by a giant asteroid crash into the earth, it is evident that the climate change of nowadays is due to a more dangerous asteroid called human being (Al Gore, May 31, 2006). Obviously, it is high time companies pretending to endorse the environment by planting trees or calling for green under the motto of “green movement” to stop this lie as long as they do not change their products type. Despite the efforts os some environmental organizations in addition to the interference of some prominent men in the world, such as Al Gore or Tony Blair, with programs and suggestions still a lot should be done. The earth is really in “crisis” while solutions are really available. Although it is hard to change one's idea by force unless he himself is apt to that, in the case of our planet earth critical situation, forcing awareness would be totally justifiable.

Is the torch safe?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7308890.stm
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/24/AR2008032400882.html

People have generally believed that Olympic games have a virtual message based on grouping people of different races ethnics and cultures under the cover of love and mutual relationships. Yet, since March 10th, China, the country which is going to host the games for 2008 is witnessing violent demonstrations and riots between Tibetans and Hans. Tibetans are known of leading peaceful marches to express their revolts and dissatisfactions, reported a journalist in Washington post. Ironically, the number of people killed in this case, (officers and civilians) is counted in hundreds.

In light of the violent incidents in Lahasa- the Tibetan regions- more attention should be drawn to discuss the safety of the torch. Despite the fact that Chinese government imposes strict security policy everywhere, still, it is hard to trust the situation.
The Olympic games are not competitive events to just win medals. They are also an opportunity to gather numerous nations under a peaceful mutual atmosphere in order to enjoy the Olympic shows. Therefore, ceasing this athletic opportunity to raise ethnic riots and cultural demonstrations is a violation of the peaceful objectives that the Olympic games attempt to reach. The torch, according to a BBC article, seems to be really in danger. This type of boycott presents a threat which might deter the torch's journey to the world's highest peak.

Obviously, what is happening in China is absolutely frustrating for the athletes as well as for the millions of viewers who are going to follow the great event. I think it is high time nations all over the world collaborated with China to find a fast solution to this turmoil before the opening ceremony. The international fear and the regular calls for an urgent stable policy as expressed by many countries, such as Germany, France, and the United States, imply that the situation in China is not stable. Summer 2008 might not be safe in China!!! Really, how sorrowful is it to hear about similar violent incidents menacing one of the most honorable and peaceful humanitarian events for the mere greed of power. How embarrassing too to know that the majority of troublemakers are students- the elite, which is supposed to be too intelligent and reasonable to interfere in bloody agitations for mere ethnic motives.
